<札記‧歷史建築> Maxine’s Hideaway @西尾區(West End)
Maxine’s Hideaway is renovated historic building. It was demolished and replaced with The Alexandra, a 21-storey rental and condo tower (completed 2014). However, its distinctive facade was retained and incorporated into the ground level commercial space.
In 1940, Lort expanded the building by adding a two-storey eastern section with a curvilinear parapet, curved "Baroque" gable, and mission bell. The picturesque facade represents a style rarely seen in Vancouver.

<札記‧歷史建築> Holly Lodge @西尾區(West End)
Holly Lodge was designed in the Second Renaissance Revival style by Wright, Rushforth and Cahill and constructed in 1910-1911. A building permit for April 1910 lists its value as $100,000. The owner was Pacific Investment Corp. Ltd.
This building clearly illustrates the high density to which West End apartments were built during the Edwardian era. It features a superior use of metal bays, and inset angled windows.

<札記‧歷史建築> 1209 Jervis Street @西尾區(West End)
Jervis Street apartment building was built in 1910 and designed by Arthur J. Bird. Mr. Bird was a famous architect who actually served as the City of Vancouver’s chief architect and inspector for several years. 1209 Jervis Street was originally called the John A. Seabold Apartment Building and is rumored to have served as the long-term stay hotel for the prestigious Hotel Vancouver.
